If a member or his/her family is wrongfully dismissed or has a disagreement with their employer.

If a member or his/her family has a contractual dispute over unsatisfactory goods or services.

If someone damages, trespasses on or causes a nuisance to a member’s property.

If a person is responsible for causing injury to a member or his/her family.

  • If a medical practitioner is responsible for causing injury to a member or his/her family.

If a member or his/her family faces an audit by the CRA or Revenu Quebec.

If a member or his/her family faces criminal charges for something they did in the course of their employment. Auto traffic charges (ex. speeding ticket) are also covered.

If a member or his/her family loses pay while attending formal court or tribunal proceedings.

If a member or his/her family falls victim to identity theft.

What’s covered?

A dispute between you and your employee, ex-employee, or a prospective employee, arising from a breach or an alleged breach of their:

a) written contract of employment with you and/or

b) related legal rights.

A dispute with your employee or ex-employee which arises from their breach of a restrictive covenant where you are seeking financial remedy or damages.

A tax audit of your business tax affairs or that concerns the personal tax affairs of your directors and/or partners.

A dispute relating to physical property which you own or is your responsibility

A criminal investigation and/or enquiry by:

i) the police; or ii) an occupational health & safety authority; or iii) other body with the power to prosecute where it is suspected that an offence may have been committed that could lead to the insured being prosecuted.

b) A criminal proceeding commenced by an arrest, a return of an indictment, laying of an information or similar document against an insured.

c) A traffic prosecution brought against your directors and/or partners that arises from use of any vehicle for personal, social or domestic purposes or to commute to or from their place of work.

Notice of a formal investigation or a regulatory or disciplinary proceeding against you by any professional, disciplinary or regulatory body.

b) A civil action against you alleging wrongful arrest arising from an allegation of theft.

c) A civil action against you for compensation where it is alleged you have breached any legal or regulatory right to privacy.

An appeal against a decision by the relevant authority to suspend, alter the terms of, revoke or refuse to renew, or cancel your statutory licence or compulsory registration.

The insured’s absence from work which results in loss of earnings:

a) in order to attend court, tribunal, alternative dispute resolution, disciplinary hearing or regulatory proceedings at the request of the appointed advisor; or

b) while on jury service.

At your request:

a) where civil proceedings are brought against your employee: i) for unlawful discrimination; or ii) in their capacity as a trustee of a pension fund set up for the benefit of your employees;

b) where your employee suffers physical bodily injury or death as a result of a sudden event; or

c) a claim arising from personal identity-theft targeted at your directors and/or partners.
